It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many children to share his glory. For Jesus is the one who leads them to salvation.

because God had decided on an even better plan for us. His purpose was that only in company with us would they be made perfect.

"Seven times seventy years is the length of time God has set for freeing your people and your holy city from sin and evil. Sin will be forgiven and eternal justice established, so that the vision and the prophecy will come true, and the holy Temple will be rededicated.

Jesus answered them, "Go and tell that fox: 'I am driving out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I shall finish my work.'

Jesus drank the wine and said, "It is finished!" Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne.

He goes up to the heights, taking many captives with him; he receives gifts from rebellious people. The LORD God will live there.

Our God is a God who saves; he is the LORD, our Lord, who rescues us from death.

"Turn to me now and be saved, people all over the world! I am the only God there is.

The LORD said to me, "I have a greater task for you, my servant. Not only will you restore to greatness the people of Israel who have survived, but I will also make you a light to the nations--- so that all the world may be saved."

You killed the one who leads to life, but God raised him from death---and we are witnesses to this.

Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us."

How, then, shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true.

When Christ went through the tent and entered once and for all into the Most Holy Place, he did not take the blood of goats and bulls to offer as a sacrifice; rather, he took his own blood and obtained eternal salvation for us.

For this reason Christ is the one who arranges a new covenant, so that those who have been called by God may receive the eternal blessings that God has promised. This can be done because there has been a death which sets people free from the wrongs they did while the first covenant was in effect.

My song will keep your fame alive forever, and everyone will praise you for all time to come.

Sincerity and truth are what you require; fill my mind with your wisdom.

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we know the true God. We live in union with the true God---in union with his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and this is eternal life.

and keep yourselves in the love of God, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy to give you eternal life.

It was faith that made Abraham obey when God called him to go out to a country which God had promised to give him. He left his own country without knowing where he was going.

All of you that honor the LORD and obey the words of his servant, the path you walk may be dark indeed, but trust in the LORD, rely on your God.

"Listen now, my people, and come to me; come to me, and you will have life! I will make a lasting covenant with you and give you the blessings I promised to David.

Men who live far away will come and help to rebuild the Temple of the LORD. And when it is rebuilt, you will know that the LORD Almighty sent me to you. This will all happen if you fully obey the commands of the LORD your God.

"So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.

"But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

While he was talking, a shining cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased---listen to him!"

We are witnesses to these things---we and the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to those who obey him."

Through him God gave me the privilege of being an apostle for the sake of Christ, in order to lead people of all nations to believe and obey.

Other people are selfish and reject what is right, in order to follow what is wrong; on them God will pour out his anger and fury.

But thanks be to God! For though at one time you were slaves to sin, you have obeyed with all your heart the truths found in the teaching you received.

But not all have accepted the Good News. Isaiah himself said, "Lord, who believed our message?"

I will be bold and speak only about what Christ has done through me to lead the Gentiles to obey God. He has done this by means of words and deeds,

we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ.

with a flaming fire, to punish those who reject God and who do not obey the Good News about our Lord Jesus.

Now that by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves and have come to have a sincere love for other believers, love one another earnestly with all your heart.
