Those who want to kill me lay traps for me, and those who want to hurt me threaten to ruin me; they never stop plotting against me.

I am like those who do not answer, because they cannot hear.

"He was treated harshly, but endured it humbly; he never said a word. Like a lamb about to be slaughtered, like a sheep about to be sheared, he never said a word.

People passing by shook their heads and hurled insults at Jesus:

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the Law and the elders made fun of him:

He trusts in God and claims to be God's Son. Well, then, let us see if God wants to save him now!"

The High Priest stood up in front of them all and questioned Jesus, "Have you no answer to the accusation they bring against you?"

But Jesus kept quiet and would not say a word. Again the High Priest questioned him, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed God?"

People passing by shook their heads and hurled insults at Jesus: "Aha! You were going to tear down the Temple and build it back up in three days!

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the Law made fun of Jesus, saying to one another, "He saved others, but he cannot save himself !

They blindfolded him and asked him, "Who hit you? Guess!"

And they said many other insulting things to him.

So Herod asked Jesus many questions, but Jesus made no answer.

Jesus said, "Forgive them, Father! They don't know what they are doing." They divided his clothes among themselves by throwing dice.

The soldiers also made fun of him: they came up to him and offered him cheap wine,

Above him were written these words: "This is the King of the Jews."

They asked Jesus, "Were we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon in you?"

"I have no demon," Jesus answered. "I honor my Father, but you dishonor me.

He went back into the palace and asked Jesus, "Where do you come from?" But Jesus did not answer.

Jesus answered, "You have authority over me only because it was given to you by God. So the man who handed me over to you is guilty of a worse sin."

The passage of scripture which he was reading was this: "He was like a sheep that is taken to be slaughtered, like a lamb that makes no sound when its wool is cut off. He did not say a word.

The official asked Philip, "Tell me, of whom is the prophet saying this? Of himself or of someone else?"

Think of what he went through; how he put up with so much hatred from sinners! So do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up.

And now, Lord, take notice of the threats they have made, and allow us, your servants, to speak your message with all boldness.

In the meantime Saul kept up his violent threats of murder against the followers of the Lord. He went to the High Priest

Masters, behave in the same way toward your slaves and stop using threats. Remember that you and your slaves belong to the same Master in heaven, who judges everyone by the same standard.

So then, those who suffer because it is God's will for them, should by their good actions trust themselves completely to their Creator, who always keeps his promise.

But you do see; you take notice of trouble and suffering and are always ready to help. The helpless commit themselves to you; you have always helped the needy.

I place myself in your care. You will save me, LORD; you are a faithful God.

Give yourself to the LORD; trust in him, and he will help you;

Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father! In your hands I place my spirit!" He said this and died.

They kept on stoning Stephen as he called out to the Lord, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"

and it is for this reason that I suffer these things. But I am still full of confidence, because I know whom I have trusted, and I am sure that he is able to keep safe until that Day what he has entrusted to me.

Surely you won't kill the innocent with the guilty. That's impossible! You can't do that. If you did, the innocent would be punished along with the guilty. That is impossible. The judge of all the earth has to act justly."

God is a righteous judge and always condemns the wicked.

when the LORD comes to rule the earth. He will rule the peoples of the world with justice and fairness.

For he has fixed a day in which he will judge the whole world with justice by means of a man he has chosen. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising that man from death!"

But you have a hard and stubborn heart, and so you are making your own punishment even greater on the Day when God's anger and righteous judgments will be revealed.

All of this proves that God's judgment is just and as a result you will become worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering.

And now there is waiting for me the victory prize of being put right with God, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that Day---and not only to me, but to all those who wait with love for him to appear.

Then I saw heaven open, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True; it is with justice that he judges and fights his battles.
