For the gospel reveals how God puts people right with himself: it is through faith from beginning to end. As the scripture says, "The person who is put right with God through faith shall live."

And just as all people were made sinners as the result of the disobedience of one man, in the same way they will all be put right with God as the result of the obedience of the one man.

So then, just as sin ruled by means of death, so also God's grace rules by means of righteousness, leading us to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

They have not known the way in which God puts people right with himself, and instead, they have tried to set up their own way; and so they did not submit themselves to God's way of putting people right.

For Christ has brought the Law to an end, so that everyone who believes is put right with God.

Abram put his trust in the LORD, and because of this the LORD was pleased with him and accepted him.

"They will say that only through me are victory and strength to be found; but all who hate me will suffer disgrace.

I, the LORD, will rescue all the descendants of Jacob, and they will give me praise.

I am bringing the day of victory near--- it is not far away at all. My triumph will not be delayed. I will save Jerusalem and bring honor to Israel there."

they will vanish like moth-eaten clothing! But the deliverance I bring will last forever; my victory will endure for all time."

But no weapon will be able to hurt you; you will have an answer for all who accuse you. I will defend my servants and give them victory." The LORD has spoken.

Jerusalem rejoices because of what the LORD has done. She is like a bride dressed for her wedding. God has clothed her with salvation and victory.

The LORD says, "The time is coming when I will choose as king a righteous descendant of David. That king will rule wisely and do what is right and just throughout the land.

When he is king, the people of Judah will be safe, and the people of Israel will live in peace. He will be called 'The LORD Our Salvation.'

The people of Judah and of Jerusalem will be rescued and will live in safety. The city will be called 'The LORD Our Salvation.'

"Seven times seventy years is the length of time God has set for freeing your people and your holy city from sin and evil. Sin will be forgiven and eternal justice established, so that the vision and the prophecy will come true, and the holy Temple will be rededicated.

No! We believe and are saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they are."

But God has brought you into union with Christ Jesus, and God has made Christ to be our wisdom. By him we are put right with God; we become God's holy people and are set free.

Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made him share our sin in order that in union with him we might share the righteousness of God.

As for us, our hope is that God will put us right with him; and this is what we wait for by the power of God's Spirit working through our faith.

and be completely united with him. I no longer have a righteousness of my own, the kind that is gained by obeying the Law. I now have the righteousness that is given through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is based on faith.

It was faith that made Abel offer to God a better sacrifice than Cain's. Through his faith he won God's approval as a righteous man, because God himself approved of his gifts. By means of his faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.

It was faith that made Abraham obey when God called him to go out to a country which God had promised to give him. He left his own country without knowing where he was going.

For Abraham was waiting for the city which God has designed and built, the city with permanent foundations.

Though Abraham was practically dead, from this one man came as many descendants as there are stars in the sky, as many as the numberless grains of sand on the seashore.

Those who say such things make it clear that they are looking for a country of their own.

Instead, it was a better country they longed for, the heavenly country. And so God is not ashamed for them to call him their God, because he has prepared a city for them.

God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that you will have the descendants I promised."

It was faith that made Isaac promise blessings for the future to Jacob and Esau.

It was faith that made Joseph, when he was about to die, speak of the departure of the Israelites from Egypt, and leave instructions about what should be done with his body.

It was faith that made Moses, when he had grown up, refuse to be called the son of the king's daughter.

He reckoned that to suffer scorn for the Messiah was worth far more than all the treasures of Egypt, for he kept his eyes on the future reward.

It was faith that made him establish the Passover and order the blood to be sprinkled on the doors, so that the Angel of Death would not kill the first-born sons of the Israelites.

It was faith that made the walls of Jericho fall down after the Israelites had marched around them for seven days.

Should I go on? There isn't enough time for me to speak of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets.

put out fierce fires, escaped being killed by the sword. They were weak, but became strong; they were mighty in battle and defeated the armies of foreigners.

Some were mocked and whipped, and others were put in chains and taken off to prison.

The world was not good enough for them! They wandered like refugees in the deserts and hills, living in caves and holes in the ground.

because God had decided on an even better plan for us. His purpose was that only in company with us would they be made perfect.

From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ--- To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have been given a faith as precious as ours:

Instead, he will send you a prophet like me from among your own people, and you are to obey him.

So the LORD said to me, 'They have made a wise request.

He will speak in my name, and I will punish anyone who refuses to obey him.

Then he said to them, "These are the very things I told you about while I was still with you: everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the writings of the prophets, and the Psalms had to come true."

Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one whom Moses wrote about in the book of the Law and whom the prophets also wrote about. He is Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth."

As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up,

so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

If you had really believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me.

But since you do not believe what he wrote, how can you believe what I say?"

But to this very day I have been helped by God, and so I stand here giving my witness to all, to small and great alike. What I say is the very same thing which the prophets and Moses said was going to happen:

The Jewish Law is not a full and faithful model of the real things; it is only a faint outline of the good things to come. The same sacrifices are offered forever, year after year. How can the Law, then, by means of these sacrifices make perfect the people who come to God?

As it is, however, the sacrifices serve year after year to remind people of their sins.

For this reason, when Christ was about to come into the world, he said to God: "You do not want sacrifices and offerings, but you have prepared a body for me.

Then I said, 'Here I am, to do your will, O God, just as it is written of me in the book of the Law.' "

Then he said, "Here I am, O God, to do your will." So God does away with all the old sacrifices and puts the sacrifice of Christ in their place.

Every Jewish priest performs his services every day and offers the same sacrifices many times; but these sacrifices can never take away sins.

There he now waits until God puts his enemies as a footstool under his feet.

The Good News was promised long ago by God through his prophets, as written in the Holy Scriptures.

Now, however, that truth has been brought out into the open through the writings of the prophets; and by the command of the eternal God it is made known to all nations, so that all may believe and obey.

He must remain in heaven until the time comes for all things to be made new, as God announced through his holy prophets of long ago.

Anyone who does not obey that prophet shall be separated from God's people and destroyed.'

The promises of God through his prophets are for you, and you share in the covenant which God made with your ancestors. As he said to Abraham, 'Through your descendants I will bless all the people on earth.'

All the prophets spoke about him, saying that all who believe in him will have their sins forgiven through the power of his name."

So they set a date with Paul, and a large number of them came that day to the place where Paul was staying. From morning till night he explained to them his message about the Kingdom of God, and he tried to convince them about Jesus by quoting from the Law of Moses and the writings of the prophets.

The scripture predicted that God would put the Gentiles right with himself through faith. And so the scripture announced the Good News to Abraham: "Through you God will bless all people."

It was concerning this salvation that the prophets made careful search and investigation, and they prophesied about this gift which God would give you.
