"Do not steal.

"Do not desire another man's house; do not desire his wife, his slaves, his cattle, his donkeys, or anything else that he owns."

"Whoever kidnaps someone, either to sell him or to keep him as a slave, is to be put to death.

If I have more, I might say that I do not need you. But if I am poor, I might steal and bring disgrace on my God.

You steal, murder, commit adultery, tell lies under oath, offer sacrifices to Baal, and worship gods that you had not known before.

They make promises and break them; they lie, murder, steal, and commit adultery. Crimes increase, and there is one murder after another.

Then he said to me, "On it is written the curse that is to go out over the whole land. On one side of the scroll it says that every thief will be removed from the land; and on the other side it says that everyone who tells lies under oath will also be taken away.

He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief. He carried the money bag and would help himself from it.

or who steal or are greedy or are drunkards or who slander others or are thieves---none of these will possess God's Kingdom.

Some of you were like that. But you have been purified from sin; you have been dedicated to God; you have been put right with God by the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Have you asked God to show you your faults, and have you agreed to stop doing evil?

You will never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins. Confess them and give them up; then God will show mercy to you.

Do those things that will show that you have turned from your sins. And don't start saying among yourselves that Abraham is your ancestor. I tell you that God can take these rocks and make descendants for Abraham!

The people asked him, "What are we to do, then?"

Some tax collectors came to be baptized, and they asked him, "Teacher, what are we to do?"

Some soldiers also asked him, "What about us? What are we to do?" He said to them, "Don't take money from anyone by force or accuse anyone falsely. Be content with your pay."

Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Listen, sir! I will give half my belongings to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will pay back four times as much."

The more easily you get your wealth, the sooner you will lose it. The harder it is to earn, the more you will have.

Work and you will earn a living; if you sit around talking you will be poor.

You yourselves know that I have worked with these hands of mine to provide everything that my companions and I have needed.

I have shown you in all things that by working hard in this way we must help the weak, remembering the words that the Lord Jesus himself said, 'There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.' "

Make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to earn your own living, just as we told you before.

In this way you will win the respect of those who are not believers, and you will not have to depend on anyone for what you need.

Our friends, we command you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to keep away from all believers who are living a lazy life and who do not follow the instructions that we gave them.

We did not accept anyone's support without paying for it. Instead, we worked and toiled; we kept working day and night so as not to be an expense to any of you.

He answered, "Whoever has two shirts must give one to the man who has none, and whoever has food must share it."

Jesus looked around and saw rich people dropping their gifts in the Temple treasury,

He said, "I tell you that this poor widow put in more than all the others.

Since Judas was in charge of the money bag, some of the disciples thought that Jesus had told him to go and buy what they needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor.

They have been severely tested by the troubles they went through; but their joy was so great that they were extremely generous in their giving, even though they are very poor.

If you are eager to give, God will accept your gift on the basis of what you have to give, not on what you don't have.

Share your belongings with your needy fellow Christians, and open your homes to strangers.

For this service you perform not only meets the needs of God's people, but also produces an outpouring of gratitude to God.

And so with deep affection they will pray for you because of the extraordinary grace God has shown you.

Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others.
