Then the earth trembled and shook; the foundations of the mountains rocked and quivered, because God was angry.

Tremble, earth, at the Lord's coming, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

Mountains quake in the presence of the LORD; hills melt before him. The earth shakes when the LORD appears; the world and all its people tremble.

Then the curtain hanging in the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split apart,

And I saw the Lamb break open the sixth seal. There was a violent earthquake, and the sun became black like coarse black cloth, and the moon turned completely red like blood.

Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sits on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence and were seen no more.

It will be a dark and gloomy day, a black and cloudy day. The great army of locusts advances like darkness spreading over the mountains. There has never been anything like it, and there never will be again.

The sun will be darkened, and the moon will turn red as blood before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes.

The sun and the moon grow dark, and the stars no longer shine.

Every star and every constellation will stop shining, the sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will give no light.

The sun, moon, and stars will crumble to dust. The sky will disappear like a scroll being rolled up, and the stars will fall like leaves dropping from a vine or a fig tree.

I looked at the earth---it was a barren waste; at the sky---there was no light.

When I destroy you, I will cover the sky and blot out the stars. The sun will hide behind the clouds, and the moon will give no light.

The LORD made the stars, the Pleiades and Orion. He turns darkness into daylight and day into night. He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the earth. His name is the LORD.

"Soon after the trouble of those days, the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses.

"There will be strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging tides.

People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses.

the sun will be darkened, and the moon will turn red as blood, before the great and glorious Day of the Lord comes.

Then the fourth angel blew his trumpet. A third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that their light lost a third of its brightness; there was no light during a third of the day and a third of the night also.
