Keep watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Some time later God tested Abraham; he called to him, "Abraham!" And Abraham answered, "Yes, here I am!"

Remember how the LORD your God led you on this long journey through the desert these past forty years, sending hardships to test you, so that he might know what you intended to do and whether you would obey his commands.

In the desert he gave you manna to eat, food that your ancestors had never eaten. He sent hardships on you to test you, so that in the end he could bless you with good things.

keep me from lying, and let me be neither rich nor poor. So give me only as much food as I need.

"Simon, Simon! Listen! Satan has received permission to test all of you, to separate the good from the bad, as a farmer separates the wheat from the chaff.

Peter answered, "Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you and to die with you!"

Then Jesus asked his disciples, "When I sent you out that time without purse, bag, or shoes, did you lack anything?" "Not a thing," they answered.

For I tell you that the scripture which says, 'He shared the fate of criminals,' must come true about me, because what was written about me is coming true."

Jesus left the city and went, as he usually did, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples went with him.

Then he went off from them about the distance of a stone's throw and knelt down and prayed.

An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.

Rising from his prayer, he went back to the disciples and found them asleep, worn out by their grief.

Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

But to keep me from being puffed up with pride because of the many wonderful things I saw, I was given a painful physical ailment, which acts as Satan's messenger to beat me and keep me from being proud.

But his answer was: "My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak." I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me.

Some were mocked and whipped, and others were put in chains and taken off to prison.

Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

And so the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials and how to keep the wicked under punishment for the Day of Judgment,

Don't be afraid of anything you are about to suffer. Listen! The Devil will put you to the test by having some of you thrown into prison, and your troubles will last ten days. Be faithful to me, even if it means death, and I will give you life as your prize of victory.

Because you have kept my command to endure, I will also keep you safe from the time of trouble which is coming upon the world to test all the people on earth.

But Jabez prayed to the God of Israel, "Bless me, God, and give me much land. Be with me and keep me from anything evil that might cause me pain." And God gave him what he prayed for.

The LORD will protect you from all danger; he will keep you safe.

He will protect you as you come and go now and forever.

I will rescue you from the power of wicked and violent people. I, the LORD, have spoken."

I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to keep them safe from the Evil One.

In order to set us free from this present evil age, Christ gave himself for our sins, in obedience to the will of our God and Father.

and to wait for his Son to come from heaven---his Son Jesus, whom he raised from death and who rescues us from God's anger that is coming.

But the Lord stayed with me and gave me strength, so that I was able to proclaim the full message for all the Gentiles to hear; and I was rescued from being sentenced to death.

And the Lord will rescue me from all evil and take me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death,

and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death.

Whoever continues to sin belongs to the Devil, because the Devil has sinned from the very beginning. The Son of God appeared for this very reason, to destroy what the Devil had done.

We know that no children of God keep on sinning, for the Son of God keeps them safe, and the Evil One cannot harm them.

We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.

"I don't know, sir. You do," I answered. He said to me, "These are the people who have come safely through the terrible persecution. They have washed their robes and made them white with the blood of the Lamb.

Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them,

He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared."

may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

You, LORD, will be king forever and ever."

You are great and powerful, glorious, splendid, and majestic. Everything in heaven and earth is yours, and you are king, supreme ruler over all.

The LORD is king forever and ever. Those who worship other gods will vanish from his land.

The LORD, the Most High, is to be feared; he is a great king, ruling over all the world.

God is king over all the world; praise him with songs!

All your creatures, LORD, will praise you, and all your people will give you thanks.

so that everyone will know your mighty deeds and the glorious majesty of your kingdom.

You will be driven away from human society and will live with wild animals. For seven years you will eat grass like an ox and sleep in the open air, where the dew will fall on you. Then you will admit that the Supreme God controls all human kingdoms and that he can give them to anyone he chooses.

"When the seven years had passed," said the king, "I looked up at the sky, and my sanity returned. I praised the Supreme God and gave honor and glory to the one who lives forever. "He will rule forever, and his kingdom will last for all time.

He looks on the people of the earth as nothing; angels in heaven and people on earth are under his control. No one can oppose his will or question what he does.

And the people of the Supreme God will receive royal power and keep it forever and ever."

To the eternal King, immortal and invisible, the only God---to him be honor and glory forever and ever! Amen.

His appearing will be brought about at the right time by God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.

And I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, in the world below, and in the sea---all living beings in the universe---and they were singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be praise and honor, glory and might, forever and ever!"

After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a large crowd of people in heaven, saying, "Praise God! Salvation, glory, and power belong to our God!

and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."

May this water enter your stomach and cause it to swell up and your genital organs to shrink." The woman shall respond, "I agree; may the LORD do so."

" 'God's curse on anyone who makes an idol of stone, wood, or metal and secretly worships it; the LORD hates idolatry.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who deprives foreigners, orphans, and widows of their rights.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who has sexual relations with an animal.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who has intercourse with his mother-in-law.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who accepts money to murder an innocent person.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

"It shall be done," answered Benaiah, "and may the LORD your God confirm it!

Praise the LORD, the God of Israel! Praise him now and forever! Then all the people said, "Amen," and praised the LORD.

"Wonderful! I hope the LORD will do this! I certainly hope he will make your prophecy come true and will bring back from Babylonia all the Temple treasures and all the people who were taken away as prisoners.

When you give thanks to God in spirit only, how can ordinary people taking part in the meeting say "Amen" to your prayer of thanksgiving? They have no way of knowing what you are saying.

for it is he who is the "Yes" to all of God's promises. This is why through Jesus Christ our "Amen" is said to the glory of God.

I am the living one! I was dead, but now I am alive forever and ever. I have authority over death and the world of the dead.

"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: "This is the message from the Amen, the faithful and true witness, who is the origin of all that God has created.
