O LORD,our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world! Your praise reaches up to the heavens;

"What do you think about the Messiah? Whose descendant is he?" "He is David's descendant," they answered.

'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit here at my right side until I put your enemies under your feet.'

No one was able to give Jesus any answer, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.

As Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he asked the question, "How can the teachers of the Law say that the Messiah will be the descendant of David?

David himself called him 'Lord'; so how can the Messiah be David's descendant?" A large crowd was listening to Jesus gladly.

Then he went off from them about the distance of a stone's throw and knelt down and prayed.

After the Lord Jesus had talked with them, he was taken up to heaven and sat at the right side of God.

For it was not David who went up into heaven; rather he said, 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit here at my right side

which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.

God put all things under Christ's feet and gave him to the church as supreme Lord over all things.

Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne.

who has gone to heaven and is at the right side of God, ruling over all angels and heavenly authorities and powers.

"On Zion, my sacred hill," he says, "I have installed my king."

Ask, and I will give you all the nations; the whole earth will be yours.

The kingdom that God has given you will last forever and ever. You rule over your people with justice;

you love what is right and hate what is evil. That is why God, your God, has chosen you and has poured out more happiness on you than on any other king.

For Christ must rule until God defeats all enemies and puts them under his feet.

He reflects the brightness of God's glory and is the exact likeness of God's own being, sustaining the universe with his powerful word. After achieving forgiveness for the sins of all human beings, he sat down in heaven at the right side of God, the Supreme Power.

God never said to any of his angels: "Sit here at my right side until I put your enemies as a footstool under your feet."

Christ, however, offered one sacrifice for sins, an offering that is effective forever, and then he sat down at the right side of God.

There he now waits until God puts his enemies as a footstool under his feet.
