Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you.

Smart people keep quiet about what they know, but stupid people advertise their ignorance.

When wise people speak, they make knowledge attractive, but stupid people spout nonsense.

They start out with silly talk and end up with pure madness.

You snakes---how can you say good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Because those people refuse to keep in mind the true knowledge about God, he has given them over to corrupted minds, so that they do the things that they should not do.

For this reason I could be bold enough, as your brother in Christ, to order you to do what should be done.

Speak to one another with the words of psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing hymns and psalms to the Lord with praise in your hearts.
