The news about this reached the church in Jerusalem, so they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and many people were brought to the Lord.

Barnabas and Saul finished their mission and returned from Jerusalem, taking John Mark with them.

In the church at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon (called the Black), Lucius (from Cyrene), Manaen (who had been brought up with Governor Herod ), and Saul.

Paul and Barnabas got into a fierce argument with them about this, so it was decided that Paul and Barnabas and some of the others in Antioch should go to Jerusalem and see the apostles and elders about this matter.

The whole group was silent as they heard Barnabas and Paul report all the miracles and wonders that God had performed through them among the Gentiles.

Barnabas wanted to take John Mark with them,

Or are Barnabas and I the only ones who have to work for our living?

Fourteen years later I went back to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.

James, Peter, and John, who seemed to be the leaders, recognized that God had given me this special task; so they shook hands with Barnabas and me, as a sign that we were all partners. We agreed that Barnabas and I would work among the Gentiles and they among the Jews.

The other Jewish believers also started acting like cowards along with Peter; and even Barnabas was swept along by their cowardly action.

James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee (Jesus gave them the name Boanerges, which means "Men of Thunder");

Some of the believers who were scattered by the persecution which took place when Stephen was killed went as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, telling the message to Jews only.

But other believers, who were from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and proclaimed the message to Gentiles also, telling them the Good News about the Lord Jesus.

There was a sharp argument, and they separated: Barnabas took Mark and sailed off for Cyprus,

Some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us and took us to the house of the man we were going to stay with ---Mnason, from Cyprus, who had been a believer since the early days.
