The Law was carved in letters on stone tablets, and God's glory appeared when it was given. Even though the brightness on Moses' face was fading, it was so strong that the people of Israel could not keep their eyes fixed on him. If the Law, which brings death when it is in force, came with such glory,

He was faithful to God, who chose him to do this work, just as Moses was faithful in his work in God's house.

A man who builds a house receives more honor than the house itself. In the same way Jesus is worthy of much greater honor than Moses.

Every house, of course, is built by someone---and God is the one who has built all things.

Moses was faithful in God's house as a servant, and he spoke of the things that God would say in the future.

But Christ is faithful as the Son in charge of God's house. We are his house if we keep up our courage and our confidence in what we hope for.

Matthew 17:10-13

Then the disciples asked Jesus, "Why do the teachers of the Law say that Elijah has to come first?"

Then he picked up Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him, and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.

He struck the water with Elijah's cloak and said, "Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" Then he struck the water again, and it divided, and he walked over to the other side.
