Do not treat them harshly, but obey your God.

Do not curse the deaf or put something in front of the blind so as to make them stumble over it. Obey me; I am the LORD your God.

"Show respect for old people and honor them. Reverently obey me; I am the LORD.

Abraham answered, "I thought that there would be no one here who has reverence for God and that they would kill me to get my wife.

"Don't hurt the boy or do anything to him," he said. "Now I know that you honor and obey God, because you have not kept back your only son from him."

I have as much authority in this house as he has, and he has not kept back anything from me except you. How then could I do such an immoral thing and sin against God?"

On the third day Joseph said to them, "I am a God-fearing man, and I will spare your lives on one condition.

Moses replied, "Don't be afraid; God has only come to test you and make you keep on obeying him, so that you will not sin."

They had no fear of God, and so they attacked you from the rear when you were tired and exhausted, and killed all who were straggling behind.

Obey the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Remember the great things he has done for you.

Honor the LORD and act carefully, because the LORD our God does not tolerate fraud or partiality or the taking of bribes."

Then I said, "What you are doing is wrong! You ought to obey God and do what's right. Then you would not give our enemies, the Gentiles, any reason to ridicule us.

Every governor who had been in office before me had been a burden to the people and had demanded forty silver coins a day for food and wine. Even their servants had oppressed the people. But I acted differently, because I honored God.

Reverence for the LORD is good; it will continue forever. The judgments of the LORD are just; they are always fair.

To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the LORD. Stupid people have no respect for wisdom and refuse to learn.

He gave the poor a fair trial, and all went well with him. That is what it means to know the LORD.

The LORD Almighty says, "I will appear among you to judge, and I will testify at once against those who practice magic, against adulterers, against those who give false testimony, those who cheat employees out of their wages, and those who take advantage of widows, orphans, and foreigners---against all who do not respect me.

I will show you whom to fear: fear God, who, after killing, has the authority to throw into hell. Believe me, he is the one you must fear!

And so it was that the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had a time of peace. Through the help of the Holy Spirit it was strengthened and grew in numbers, as it lived in reverence for the Lord.

He was a religious man; he and his whole family worshiped God. He also did much to help the Jewish poor people and was constantly praying to God.

Those who fear him and do what is right are acceptable to him, no matter what race they belong to.

nor have they learned reverence for God."

That is true. They were broken off because they did not believe, while you remain in place because you do believe. But do not be proud of it; instead, be afraid.
