You have six days in which to do your work,

Once, while the Israelites were still in the wilderness, a man was found gathering firewood on the Sabbath.

and was put under guard, because it was not clear what should be done with him.

So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD had commanded.

The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Any one of you would untie your ox or your donkey from the stall and take it out to give it water on the Sabbath.

So they began to persecute Jesus, because he had done this healing on a Sabbath.

The message given to our ancestors by the angels was shown to be true, and those who did not follow it or obey it received the punishment they deserved.

How, then, shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true.

Anyone who disobeys the Law of Moses is put to death without any mercy when judged guilty from the evidence of two or more witnesses.

What, then, of those who despise the Son of God? who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God's covenant which purified them from sin? who insult the Spirit of grace? Just think how much worse is the punishment they will deserve!
