Day 65, University of Missouri, April 9, 2007, 2007, “Jesus Christ has risen from the dead and all power has been given unto Him in Heaven and Earth. Were any of you students in church yesterday morning affirming His Resurrection? My church was filled yesterday with chairs set up in the aisles and standing room only. But how many are proclaiming His Resurrection one day later? Very few, I dare say. Do we really believe He has Risen? If so, Let us proclaim it from the housetops!

“I am afraid many of you have Resurrection confused with erection. Those who refuse to bow their knees before the resurrected Savior are likely to kneel before an erection. Sodomy is running rampant; because few will bow their knees before the living God. And even fewer will publicly declare His name to the nations and teach them to observe all things that He commanded. But Judgment Day is at hand and every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. But it will be too late for most of you. He will cast you into the Lake of Fire!”

Only a few gathered the first hour; but the preaching sparked two spiritual conversations among them, one led by those like Dr. Acuff, a local physician who preaches in Speakers’ Circle every Monday.

The next hour I preached along the same lines a group of about 20 gathered. One vile student kept making lewd remarks about my wife and daughters. This did not seem to have the approval of the other students. I left the matter in the hands of the Lord.

It was difficult to lift the thoughts of this group above their belts; and you know how low they all wear their trousers these days. I was tiring of this group and after 3 PM the crowd was down to only about a dozen. Then the tone of the crowd changed and became serious and more cerebral. What I may have brought about this change, I do not know.

Meanwhile, Rocket, a local musician, and his son, Quentin, arrived on the scene. We brought a new digital camcorder and he filmed for me. We want to start posting more clips on you tube. The clips that the students put up are mostly my more sensational teachings concerning sex education. So I want you tube to have a more balanced presentation of my message. We posted a clip last night at http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheCampusMinistryUSA

The last hour the students were very attentive and I actually had some thoughtful questions. So as the day turned out I was very pleased. Rocket stayed on talking to a student that Rocket considered an honest seeker after truth. Quentin is 17 and in high school and he gave his testimony how God saved him from a life of drugs.

Late in the day Brian Kaylor, Communication Specialist for the Baptist General Convention of Missouri and an instructor at Mizzou in Communication handed me an autographed copy of his new book, For God’s Sake, Shut Up!: Lessons for Christians on How to Speak Effectively and When to Remain Silent. His inscription read, “Mr. Smock, I hope you learn from this book. P.S. Check out Chapter 8.”

His opening paragraph in Chapter 8 reads, “There is an epidemic seeping college campuses today. Blowing through the air, it alarms many students and has created much distress. This menace is none other than sidewalk preachers. . . Across the country the preachers may be different, but the message and negative impact on the campuses is quite similar.

He sites me in particular as someone he uses to teach his students about how not to communicate when talking about “topics such as topics as ethical communications, logical fallacies and delivery/style.”

I plan on contacting him to see if he will debate me at my next School of Evangelism.

All in all it was a good day, especially considering the weather is still on the cold side.
