They brought the apostles in, made them stand before the Council, and the High Priest questioned them.

They proclaimed a day of fasting, called the people together, and gave Naboth the place of honor.

The message was sent to Jezebel: "Naboth has been put to death."

The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees brought in a woman who had been caught committing adultery, and they made her stand before them all.

When they heard this, they all left, one by one, the older ones first. Jesus was left alone, with the woman still standing there.

The man answered, "Who made you our ruler and judge? Are you going to kill me just as you killed that Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid and said to himself, "People have found out what I have done."

Jesus came back to the Temple; and as he taught, the chief priests and the elders came to him and asked, "What right do you have to do these things? Who gave you such right?"

The Jewish authorities came back at him with a question, "What miracle can you perform to show us that you have the right to do this?"

then you should all know, and all the people of Israel should know, that this man stands here before you completely well through the power of the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth---whom you crucified and whom God raised from death.

"We gave you strict orders not to teach in the name of this man," he said; "but see what you have done! You have spread your teaching all over Jerusalem, and you want to make us responsible for his death!"

They called the apostles in, had them whipped, and ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus; and then they set them free.
