Matthew 22:23-33

That same day some Sadducees came to Jesus and claimed that people will not rise from death.

"Teacher," they said, "Moses said that if a man who has no children dies, his brother must marry the widow so that they can have children who will be considered the dead man's children.
25
Now, there were seven brothers who used to live here. The oldest got married and died without having children, so he left his widow to his brother.
26
The same thing happened to the second brother, to the third, and finally to all seven.
27
Last of all, the woman died.
28
Now, on the day when the dead rise to life, whose wife will she be? All of them had married her."
29
Jesus answered them, "How wrong you are! It is because you don't know the Scriptures or God's power.
30
For when the dead rise to life, they will be like the angels in heaven and will not marry.
31
Now, as for the dead rising to life: haven't you ever read what God has told you? He said,

'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' He is the God of the living, not of the dead."

When the crowds heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.
Luke 20:27-40

Then some Sadducees, who say that people will not rise from death, came to Jesus and said,

"Teacher, Moses wrote this law for us: 'If a man dies and leaves a wife but no children, that man's brother must marry the widow so that they can have children who will be considered the dead man's children.'

Once there were seven brothers; the oldest got married and died without having children.

Then the second one married the woman,

and then the third. The same thing happened to all seven---they died without having children.

Last of all, the woman died.

Now, on the day when the dead rise to life, whose wife will she be? All seven of them had married her."

Jesus answered them, "The men and women of this age marry,

but the men and women who are worthy to rise from death and live in the age to come will not then marry.

They will be like angels and cannot die. They are the children of God, because they have risen from death.

And Moses clearly proves that the dead are raised to life. In the passage about the burning bush he speaks of the Lord as 'the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.'
38
He is the God of the living, not of the dead, for to him all are alive."

Some of the teachers of the Law spoke up, "A good answer, Teacher!"

For they did not dare ask him any more questions.

Acts 4:1
Peter and John were still speaking to the people when some priests, the officer in charge of the Temple guards, and some Sadducees arrived.
Acts 4:2
They were annoyed because the two apostles were teaching the people that Jesus had risen from death, which proved that the dead will rise to life.
Acts 23:6-9

When Paul saw that some of the group were Sadducees and the others were Pharisees, he called out in the Council, "Fellow Israelites! I am a Pharisee, the son of Pharisees. I am on trial here because of the hope I have that the dead will rise to life!"

As soon as he said this, the Pharisees and Sadducees started to quarrel, and the group was divided.

(For the Sadducees say that people will not rise from death and that there are no angels or spirits; but the Pharisees believe in all three.)

The shouting became louder, and some of the teachers of the Law who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and protested strongly: "We cannot find a thing wrong with this man! Perhaps a spirit or an angel really did speak to him!"
1 Corinthians 15:13-18

If that is true, it means that Christ was not raised;

and if Christ has not been raised from death, then we have nothing to preach and you have nothing to believe.

More than that, we are shown to be lying about God, because we said that he raised Christ from death---but if it is true that the dead are not raised to life, then he did not raise Christ.

For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised.
17
And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is a delusion and you are still lost in your sins.

It would also mean that the believers in Christ who have died are lost.

They have left the way of truth and are upsetting the faith of some believers by saying that our resurrection has already taken place.
