"As for you, how fortunate you are! Your eyes see and your ears hear.

You saw the terrible plagues, the miracles, and the great wonders that the LORD performed.

But to this very day he has not let you understand what you have experienced.

The LORD says, "Listen, you deaf people! Look closely, you that are blind!

Israel, you have seen so much, but what has it meant to you? You have ears to hear with, but what have you really heard?"

Such people are too stupid to know what they are doing. They close their eyes and their minds to the truth.

Pay attention, you foolish and stupid people, who have eyes, but cannot see, and have ears, but cannot hear.

"Mortal man," he said, "you are living among rebellious people. They have eyes, but they see nothing; they have ears, but they hear nothing, because they are rebellious.

Jesus knew what they were saying, so he asked them, "Why are you discussing about not having any bread? Don't you know or understand yet? Are your minds so dull?

You have eyes---can't you see? You have ears---can't you hear? Don't you remember

This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil.

Those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up.

Jesus said, "I came to this world to judge, so that the blind should see and those who see should become blind."

Jesus answered, "If you were blind, then you would not be guilty; but since you claim that you can see, this means that you are still guilty."

For if the gospel we preach is hidden, it is hidden only from those who are being lost.

They do not believe, because their minds have been kept in the dark by the evil god of this world. He keeps them from seeing the light shining on them, the light that comes from the Good News about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
