Every Israelite woman will go to her Egyptian neighbors and to any Egyptian woman living in her house and will ask for clothing and for gold and silver jewelry. The Israelites will put these things on their sons and daughters and carry away the wealth of the Egyptians."

The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in Egypt:

"This month is to be the first month of the year for you.

The Israelites had done as Moses had said, and had asked the Egyptians for gold and silver jewelry and for clothes.

The LORD made the Egyptians respect the people and give them what they asked for. In this way the Israelites carried away the wealth of the Egyptians.

God has taken flocks away from your father and given them to me.

The wicked may have too much silver to count and more clothes than anyone needs;

but some good person will wear the clothes, and someone honest will get the silver.

The world and all that is in it belong to the LORD; the earth and all who live on it are his.

Then he led the Israelites out; they carried silver and gold, and all of them were healthy and strong.

Good people will have wealth to leave to their grandchildren, but the wealth of sinners will go to the righteous.

All the silver and gold of the world is mine.

Don't I have the right to do as I wish with my own money? Or are you jealous because I am generous?' "

Aaron said to them, "Take off the gold earrings which your wives, your sons, and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."

He took the earrings, melted them, poured the gold into a mold, and made a gold bull-calf. The people said, "Israel, this is our god, who led us out of Egypt!"

All who wanted to, both men and women, brought decorative pins, earrings, rings, necklaces, and all kinds of gold jewelry and dedicated them to the LORD.

I dressed you in embroidered gowns and gave you shoes of the best leather, a linen headband, and a silk cloak.

I gave you a nose ring and earrings and a beautiful crown to wear.
