Then the LORD said, "I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt; I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings,

I have seen the cruel suffering of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groans, and I have come down to set them free. Come now; I will send you to Egypt.'

O LORD, my defender, I call to you. Listen to my cry! If you do not answer me, I will be among those who go down to the world of the dead.

Hear my prayer, LORD, and listen to my cry; come to my aid when I weep. Like all my ancestors I am only your guest for a little while.

You have done all this, and I have said nothing, so you thought that I am like you. But now I reprimand you and make the matter plain to you.

O God, do not keep silent; do not be still, do not be quiet!

Why are you so far away, O LORD? Why do you hide yourself when we are in trouble?

Do not stay away from me! Trouble is near, and there is no one to help.

O LORD, don't stay away from me! Come quickly to my rescue!

Do not abandon me, O LORD; do not stay away, my God!

Don't stay so far away, O God; my God, hurry to my aid!
