I have so many enemies, LORD, so many who turn against me!

They talk about me and say, "God will not help him."

When evil people attack me and try to kill me, they stumble and fall.

Don't abandon me to my enemies, who attack me with lies and threats.

My enemies are healthy and strong; there are many who hate me for no reason.

All day long my opponents attack me. There are so many who fight against me.

I am surrounded by enemies, who are like lions hungry for human flesh. Their teeth are like spears and arrows; their tongues are like sharp swords.

When I am surrounded by troubles, you keep me safe. You oppose my angry enemies and save me by your power.

My enemies have hunted me down and completely defeated me. They have put me in a dark prison, and I am like those who died long ago.

And David said to Abishai and to all his officials, "My own son is trying to kill me; so why should you be surprised at this Benjaminite? The LORD told him to curse; so leave him alone and let him do it.

This seemed like good advice to Absalom and all the Israelite leaders.

The chief priests and the teachers of the Law were afraid of the people, and so they were trying to find a way of putting Jesus to death secretly.

But they insisted even more strongly, "With his teaching he is starting a riot among the people all through Judea. He began in Galilee and now has come here."

But they shouted back, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"

But they kept on shouting at the top of their voices that Jesus should be crucified, and finally their shouting succeeded.

He examines the good and the wicked alike; the lawless he hates with all his heart.

and saves me from my foes. O LORD, you give me victory over my enemies and protect me from violent people.

You make plans to ruin others; your tongue is like a sharp razor. You are always inventing lies.

Proud people are coming against me, O God; a cruel gang is trying to kill me--- people who pay no attention to you.

Save me, LORD, from evildoers; keep me safe from violent people.

Protect me, LORD, from the power of the wicked; keep me safe from violent people who plot my downfall.

May those who accuse others falsely not succeed; may evil overtake violent people and destroy them.
