even at noon they grope in darkness.

The light of the wicked will still be put out; its flame will never burn again.

They will be driven out of the land of the living, driven from light into darkness.

The LORD then said to Moses, "Raise your hand toward the sky, and a darkness thick enough to be felt will cover the land of Egypt."

The Egyptians could not see each other, and no one left his house during that time. But the Israelites had light where they were living.

When the Syrians attacked, Elisha prayed, "O LORD, strike these men blind!" The LORD answered his prayer and struck them blind.

The road of the wicked, however, is dark as night. They fall, but cannot see what they have stumbled over.

The people will wander through the land, discouraged and hungry. In their hunger and their anger they will curse their king and their God. They may look up to the sky

or stare at the ground, but they will see nothing but trouble and darkness, terrifying darkness into which they are being driven.

Honor the LORD, your God, before he brings darkness, and you stumble on the mountains; before he turns into deep darkness the light you hoped for.

and said, "You son of the Devil! You are the enemy of everything that is good. You are full of all kinds of evil tricks, and you always keep trying to turn the Lord's truths into lies!

The Lord's hand will come down on you now; you will be blind and will not see the light of day for a time." At once Elymas felt a dark mist cover his eyes, and he walked around trying to find someone to lead him by the hand.

Break the power of wicked and evil people; punish them for the wrong they have done until they do it no more.

because the LORD will take away the strength of the wicked, but protect those who are good.

Now then, this is what I, the Sovereign LORD, say: I am the enemy of the king of Egypt. I am going to break both his arms---the good one and the one already broken---and the sword will fall from his hand.
