and do what the LORD your God orders you to do. Obey all his laws and commands, as written in the Law of Moses, so that wherever you go you may prosper in everything you do.

If you obey him, the LORD will keep the promise he made when he told me that my descendants would rule Israel as long as they were careful to obey his commands faithfully with all their heart and soul.

And if you obey me and keep my laws and commands, as your father David did, I will give you a long life."

And now, LORD God of Israel, I pray that you will also keep the other promise you made to my father when you told him that there would always be one of his descendants ruling as king of Israel, provided they obeyed you as carefully as he did.

The LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer. I consecrate this Temple which you have built as the place where I shall be worshiped forever. I will watch over it and protect it for all time.

I will keep the promise I made to your father David when I told him that Israel would always be ruled by his descendants.

All will go well with you if you honor the LORD your God, serve him, listen to him, and obey his commands, and if you and your king follow him.

But if you do not listen to the LORD but disobey his commands, he will be against you and your king.

And to Solomon he said, "My son, I charge you to acknowledge your father's God and to serve him with an undivided heart and a willing mind. He knows all our thoughts and desires. If you go to him, he will accept you; but if you turn away from him, he will abandon you forever.

If you serve me faithfully as your father David did, obeying my laws and doing everything I have commanded you,

I will keep the promise I made to your father David when I told him that Israel would always be ruled by his descendants.

If your sons are true to my covenant and to the commands I give them, their sons, also, will succeed you for all time as kings."

the LORD Almighty had said: "If you obey my laws and perform the duties I have assigned you, then you will continue to be in charge of my Temple and its courts, and I will hear your prayers, just as I hear the prayers of the angels who are in my presence.

You must, of course, continue faithful on a firm and sure foundation, and must not allow yourselves to be shaken from the hope you gained when you heard the gospel. It is of this gospel that I, Paul, became a servant---this gospel which has been preached to everybody in the world.

He will be the one to build a temple for me, and I will make sure that his dynasty continues forever.

He will build a temple for me. He will be my son, and I will be his father. His dynasty will rule Israel forever.' "
