Today you have acknowledged the LORD as your God; you have promised to obey him, to keep all his laws, and to do all that he commands.

Today the LORD has accepted you as his own people, as he promised you; and he commands you to obey all his laws.

Then let the prophets of Baal pray to their god, and I will pray to the LORD, and the one who answers by sending fire---he is God." The people shouted their approval.

I will give you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and offer my prayer to you.

"One by one, people will say, 'I am the LORD's.' They will come to join the people of Israel. They each will mark the name of the LORD on their arms and call themselves one of God's people."

Listen to this, people of Israel, you that are descended from Judah: You swear by the name of the LORD and claim to worship the God of Israel--- but you don't mean a word you say.

You treat us as though you had never been our ruler, as though we had never been your people.

The people of Judah and of Jerusalem will be rescued and will live in safety. The city will be called 'The LORD Our Salvation.'

But all who ask the LORD for help will be saved. As the LORD has said, 'Some in Jerusalem will escape; those whom I choose will survive.' "

"Then I will change the people of the nations, and they will pray to me alone and not to other gods. They will all obey me.

And then, whoever calls out to the Lord for help will be saved.'

When he found him, he took him to Antioch, and for a whole year the two met with the people of the church and taught a large group. It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.

As the scripture says, "Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved."

To the church of God which is in Corinth, to all who are called to be God's holy people, who belong to him in union with Christ Jesus, together with all people everywhere who worship our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

For this reason I fall on my knees before the Father,

from whom every family in heaven and on earth receives its true name.
