Do not be tempted to worship and serve what you see in the sky---the sun, the moon, and the stars. The LORD your God has given these to all other peoples for them to worship.

Can anyone count the angels who serve him? Is there any place where God's light does not shine?

In his eyes even the moon is not bright, or the stars pure.

Job, have you ever in all your life commanded a day to dawn?

Daylight makes the hills and valleys stand out like the folds of a garment, clear as the imprint of a seal on clay.

When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places---

what are human beings, that you think of them; mere mortals, that you care for them?

How clearly the sky reveals God's glory! How plainly it shows what he has done!

No speech or words are used, no sound is heard;

it comes out in the morning like a happy bridegroom, like an athlete eager to run a race.

You created the day and the night; you set the sun and the moon in their places;

you set the limits of the earth; you made summer and winter.

You created the moon to mark the months; the sun knows the time to set.

You made the night, and in the darkness all the wild animals come out.

All things remain to this day because of your command, because they are all your servants.

He made the sun and the moon; his love is eternal;

the moon and the stars to rule over the night; his love is eternal.

Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, shining stars.

by his command they were fixed in their places forever, and they cannot disobey.

Look up at the sky! Who created the stars you see? The one who leads them out like an army, he knows how many there are and calls each one by name! His power is so great--- not one of them is ever missing!

The LORD provides the sun for light by day, the moon and the stars to shine at night. He stirs up the sea and makes it roar; his name is the LORD Almighty.

"I have made a covenant with the day and with the night, so that they always come at their proper times; and that covenant can never be broken.

But I, the LORD, have a covenant with day and night, and I have made the laws that control earth and sky.

As long as the world exists, there will be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night."

I am putting my bow in the clouds. It will be the sign of my covenant with the world.

Keep the morning star from shining; give that night no hope of dawn.

Can you tie the Pleiades together or loosen the bonds that hold Orion?

Can you guide the stars season by season and direct the Big and the Little Dipper?

Blow the trumpet for the festival, when the moon is new and when the moon is full.

When I destroy you, I will cover the sky and blot out the stars. The sun will hide behind the clouds, and the moon will give no light.

I will put out all the lights of heaven and plunge your world into darkness. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken.

The Sovereign LORD says, "The east gateway to the inner courtyard must be kept closed during the six working days, but it is to be opened on the Sabbath and at the New Moon Festival.

At the New Moon Festival he will offer a young bull, six lambs, and a ram, all without any defects.

The earth shakes as they advance; the sky trembles. The sun and the moon grow dark, and the stars no longer shine.

"I will give warnings of that day in the sky and on the earth; there will be bloodshed, fire, and clouds of smoke.

The sun will be darkened, and the moon will turn red as blood before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes.

The LORD made the stars, the Pleiades and Orion. He turns darkness into daylight and day into night. He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the earth. His name is the LORD.

The time is coming when I will make the sun go down at noon and the earth grow dark in daytime. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken.

and asked, "Where is the baby born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star when it came up in the east, and we have come to worship him."

But Jesus answered, "When the sun is setting, you say, 'We are going to have fine weather, because the sky is red.'

And early in the morning you say, 'It is going to rain, because the sky is red and dark.' You can predict the weather by looking at the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs concerning these times!

"Soon after the trouble of those days, the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses.

"In the days after that time of trouble the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine,

"There will be strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging tides.

People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses.

I will perform miracles in the sky above and wonders on the earth below. There will be blood, fire, and thick smoke;

the sun will be darkened, and the moon will turn red as blood, before the great and glorious Day of the Lord comes.

And I saw the Lamb break open the sixth seal. There was a violent earthquake, and the sun became black like coarse black cloth, and the moon turned completely red like blood.

Then the fourth angel blew his trumpet. A third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that their light lost a third of its brightness; there was no light during a third of the day and a third of the night also.

The star opened the abyss, and smoke poured out of it, like the smoke from a large furnace; the sunlight and the air were darkened by the smoke from the abyss.
